Installing Your Mustang Grill

But simply buying a new Mustang grill for your Mustang Cobra isn’t enough- you need to install it. Thankfully you can install a grill on your truck with relative ease, especially if you already have the tools you need and you have a helper or two.

Why is a Mustang grill so easy to install onto your Mustang convertible? Simple- because a Mustang grill is basically a single piece of sculpted metal. You’d be hard pressed to find a grill that’s composed of multiple pieces and requires a complicated equipment-heavy multi-stage installation process.

Mustang Grill Installation Tips

Unlike installing other significant accessories when you install a Mustang grill you will only need to temporarily remove a single piece of your Mustang Boss 302, you won’t have to do any custom cutting, molding or shaping, and you won’t need to do any significant heavy lifting. It helps to have a partner because a partner will make it easier to put your Mustang billet grille in place and it’s good to have a second pair of eyes to make sure you put your new Mustang grill on level and straight, but overall you could install your new Mustang grill by yourself without many problems.

Step 1:  To install your Mustang grill you need to first pop the hood on your Shelby Mustang. Looking down over your Mustang grille you will see the top of it is blocked by a fan cover. You need to unbolt this fan cover and then remove it. Make sure you don’t lose any of its bolts, as these can be annoying to have to chase down or replace.

Step 2:  With your Mustang’s fan cover off you then want to unbolt your old grill. Once unbolted it will lift off pretty easily. Grills tend to be made from relatively lightweight material so this won’t take too much effort.

Step 3:  Set your old Mustang grill aside and pick up your new Mustang billet and fit it into place. Provided you get the right Mustang grill, one that was made for your particular make and model of truck, it should slide right into place like a hand in a glove. Place its bolts into their grooves lightly, then take a step back and evaluate. Make any necessary adjustments then, once you’re satisfied, tighten the bolts and make sure the Mustang grill sits firmly and sturdily in place.

Step 4:  Finally take your fan cover and put it back in position, make sure it’s aligned properly, then bolt it back into place.

Once you’re done you can close the hood and enjoy your attractive, sturdy new Mustang grill. If you really need help you can hire some assistance, but as you can see the whole process of installing Mustang grilles is so simple you shouldn’t run into too many problems.
